Grew up in the desert, moved to New York in 1997, made a life and found great friends. I am blessed beyond reckoning.

Not just art, but beauty.

This reminded me that the goal may, in fact, be to make a beautiful life. From an excellent article about the current state of English language poety. The quote is from Auden.

       God may reduce you
on Judgment Day
      to tears of shame,
reciting by heart
       the poems you would
have written, had
       your life been good.

— From Thanksgiving for a Habitat

There are a few more quotes from this article that I would share with some of my favorite artists...

For everyone bitching about the terrible state of theatre: "The question arises: how does one rouse an entire art form out of a bad mood?"

To my friends who wrote me about my recent "whining like a little bitch" post: Thank you. I love you, too. Sorry I got a little dumb.
