"OK, everyone pretend to be normal!"
Saw Little Miss Sunshine this evening. The traditional cast viewing of a film has dwindled to Katie and me, going out with a bunch of folks from the other casts as they go through the bonding rituals we went through on our way to being the tight knit psuedo-family we will be for the next 4 months. Frankly, the depiction of a fucked-up, bickering family tearing across the west in a van was enough to send both of us into hyperventilating hysterics. "Oh God," we both said, staring at each other in wild-eyed panic. "What have we gotten ourselves into?" We'll see. The movie was great. Steve Carrell, especially, was a wonder, but all the acting was fantastic.
Today's rehearsal was not too difficult, which is fortunate, given that I don't think I could have handled anything significantly harder than a soft-boiled egg. Steph called me late last night in a bit of a panic after a guy was talking shit to her on the train home (that makes it sound insignificant, which it was not, but I'll let her tell it in her own way if she chooses), but everything ended up being OK, except that I couldn't get back to sleep for an hour as I wished various nasty, slow, and painful deaths upon the schmuck that scared my wife. Goddamnit.
Anyway, we cleaned up a lot of the blocking today, which is damned fortunate. My whiny post of two days ago aside, it needed cleaning, and we finally found some clarity in the movement. We'll see if I can remember it, eh? In the meantime, I'll work on my makeup tomorrow, catch up on my sleep, and try to prepare for next week's three dress rehearsals before heading down to NYC for a day or so before heading out on the road.
As an aside, a quick notice about the Boston Subway system, known in these parts as "The T". They're switching over to a card system for fares, but since not all of the stations take cards, you have to have both cards and tokens ready to go, depending on where any particular station is at as far as the changeover. So, as a result of this, the station entrance you happen to enter may take cards (which I had), or it may take tokens (which I did not), and lo and behold there's the train, and me without my token, and no one attending the booth to sell me tokens. Well, today I became a criminal. I jumped the turnstile (note to the MBTA: eat it). If they can't create a system that ensures that people who have money to pay or who have already paid money can use their trains, I can't really get behind paying them all that well.
Anyway. Hope you're well. I hope to see some of my friends on Friday night, but really, all I want to do is see my wife and my cat. Everything else is an extra helping of goodness. love.
