first week blues
So the tour. The tour is, shall we say, complicated. I think it remains to be seen whether this ends up being the worst thing that ever happened to me, or the best.
Here's my daily schedule on show days:
5:00 AM - get up, do yoga.
6:00 AM - get dressed, pack.
6:30 AM - get breakfast, shovel down whatever happens to be available at the continental breakfast (maybe eggs, or cereal, or a bagel, maybe a hardboiled egg)
6:45 AM - get in the truck and ride to the space
7:00 - 7:15 (depending on distance from the hotel and traffic) - arrive at the space
7:30 AM - Begin unpacking the 26 foot truck that holds all our lights, sound, set, props and costumes
8:30 AM - Assemble set, including bolting platforms, raising proscenium arch, and various and sundry heavy lifting bits9:00 AM - Begin preparing for the show (place/check props, apply makeup, get into costume, wig, and prosthetic nose)
10:00 AM - Do show
12:00 PM - Begin disassembling set
1:00 PM - repack truck with set, etc., etc., etc.
2:00 PM - Eat lunch
3:00 PM - hit the road and drive 2-4 hours to reach our next destination
5:00 - 7:00 - arrive at next hotel, check in, lie down, set up internet connection in hotel, turn on TV
9:00(-ish) - speak to my wife
10:00 - 11:00 - get ready for bed and freaking sleep.
Don't forget the bruises, scrapes, and welts that come from lifting and setting down large heavy objects twice (or more times) a day.
I'm lucky to have the people I have with me on this tour. They make it all worth while.

Hey Babe - remember, this is the heavy part of the tour - no professional crews, etc. After the schools, things will probably get a little better. LOVE!
